Macaroni art, sometimes referred to as macaroni crafts or pasta art, is artwork that is made of dry macaroni or other pasta. The works commonly consist of individual pieces of macaroni glued to a surface to produce a mosaic. However, works may take the form of sculptures. A picture made using different shapes of pasta.
Pasta can also be seen as a metaphor or symbol in artwork. For example, pasta can represent the richness of Italian culture and its global influence. In this context, pasta can be seen as a symbol of connection and sharing of culinary traditions.
To get started, I poured a few different types of pasta into gallon sized ziplock bags. I then poured a splash of rubbing alcohol into the bag and about 10-12 drops of food dye. After sealing the bag, I squished everything all around until it looked like most of the noodles were covered with color.
The word for noodles in English was borrowed in the 18th century from the German word Nudel (German: [ˈnuːdl̩]). The German word likely came from Knodel or Nutel, and referred to any dumpling, though mostly of wheat.
