Formerly known as Samyang Foods Group, the company has a new plant under construction in the southeastern part of the country, which it is positioning as a strong base for exports.
The various flavors available for Buldak ramen range in heat, with the Jjajang flavor being the least spicy (1920 on the Scoville scale). Samyang has created a 2X spicy flavor that sits at 8808 on the Scoville scale to challenge those who found the original flavor bearable.
The original Samyang Buldak Ramen has a spicy level of 4,404 Scoville units and the Samyang 2X Spicy version has a spiciness level of 10,000 Scoville units. At 10,000 Scoville units, the Samyang 2X Spicy Buldak Ramen is equivalent to the spiciness of a serrano pepper.
While instant ramen is not bad for you, it isn't recommended as a single food daily or multiple times per day on its own due to its high-sodium flavoring packet or broth.
