FAQ
Akamaru (赤丸, Akamaru?) is a ramen dish featured in the Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san series. It references a dish made by Hakata Ippudo, a Japanese ramen chain. The pork broth in the soup is mixed with spicy miso flavoring, and is served with mushrooms and scallions as toppings.
In fact, the Shiromaru bowl uses ultra-fine rounded noodles, resulting in a smoother texture. Compare this to the Akamaru, which uses more angular noodles which cling to the broth more. The base flavour, or kaeshi, uses a secret blend of soy sauces from Kyushu.
Our Akamaru Torched ramen boasts a touch of spice from red miso and garlic oil, delivering a savory taste that's just the right amount of spicy.
With no mother to cook for him, instant ramen noodles are his favourite meal, but when he is invited to his favourite restaurant, Ichiraku, one bowl is never enough!
Trivia. The 'Aka' in Akamaru's name means the colour 'red', and 'maru' meaning 'perfection' or 'full circle' is a common suffix for Japanese male names. The reason for his name was explained by Kiba when Akamaru's fur turned red after eating a Military Rations Pill.
