Ramen is a Japanese noodle dish with a broth made from soybeans, wheat, and barley. It is often served with a topping of sliced pork, vegetables, and/or egg. It has been said that ramen is an essential part of Japanese culture.
The origins of ramen can be traced back to Yokohama Chinatown in the early 20th century. The word ramen is a Japanese borrowing of the Chinese word lamian (拉麵), meaning pulled noodles, but is not derived from the northern Chinese dish of lamian.
Jin is said to depict the way two people should treat one another. We, the founding partners, chose Jin as our ramen bar's name not only out of an enthusiasm for ramen, but also from a desire to grow a business that has a positive impact on the community.
“There are five basic elements to ramen: noodles, tare, broth, topping and aroma oil,” Sun Noodle's executive chef Shigetoshi “Jack” Nakamura says.
Ramen noodles are a carbohydrate-rich, comforting, budget-friendly and widely available dish that can be enjoyed quickly whenever you'd like. While instant ramen is not bad for you, it isn't recommended as a single food daily or multiple times per day on its own due to its high-sodium flavoring packet or broth.
