The word ramen is a Japanese borrowing of the Chinese word lamian (拉麵), meaning pulled noodles, but is not derived from the northern Chinese dish of lamian. Instead, the dish evolved from southern Chinese noodle dishes from regions such as Guangzhou, reflecting the demographics of Chinese settlers in Yokohama.
During World War II, ramen became even more popular in Japan as a cheap and filling meal for soldiers and civilians alike. After the war, cheap and convenient instant ramen noodles were introduced, making the dish even more accessible to the general public.
Midori Rāmen (みどりラーメン, Midori?) is a ramen dish featured in Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san. It references a dish made by Yamate Ramen, an actual restaurant in Tokyo, Japan. The soup is mixed with Euglena (ミドリムシ), which are amoeba-like organisms that have been used in various Japanese food products for their health benefits.
Shoyu: Shoyu is the original type of ramen. It features a soy-based broth flavored with soy sauce, mirin, pork or chicken stock, and rice vinegar. Some of the most common toppings for shoyu ramen are marinated soft-boiled eggs, bamboo shoots, corn and bean sprouts.
